Mobile & offline use

Summary

DocuRail supports offline use so field teams can continue capturing information when connectivity is limited. Offline capability supports data capture and access, but some actions still require synchronisation.

Scope

This page describes typical platform behaviour. It does not replace operational contingency planning or organisational procedures.

How offline use works

Offline use relies on prior synchronisation. Information must be available on the device before going offline.

When offline, users are generally able to:

  • View previously synchronised packs
  • Enter or update information in supported fields
  • Continue working without immediate connectivity

What typically requires connectivity

Most workflows require a connection to:

  • Submit packs for review
  • Perform approvals / rejections
  • Generate or distribute certain outputs, depending on configuration

Synchronisation and visibility

When connectivity is restored, the device synchronises captured changes to the platform.

Until synchronisation is complete:

  • Other users may not see your updates
  • Status changes may not be reflected centrally

Common limitations

  • New packs may not be created unless previously synchronised or permitted by configuration
  • Some workflow transitions are blocked until the device is online
Common misunderstanding

Offline mode is not “full platform mode”. It is designed to protect data integrity and workflow consistency while supporting on-site capture.
