15-minute quickstart
Summary
This quickstart helps new users complete their first POS or ALO workflow in DocuRail, using the minimum steps needed to become productive.
This Knowledge Base explains how the platform behaves. It does not replace controlled railway documentation, standards, or operational decision-making.
What you’ll do
- Confirm your role and access
- Find or create a POS / ALO pack
- Complete required fields and attach evidence
- Submit for review
- Track outcomes and handle revisions
Step 1 — Confirm your role and access
DocuRail is typically used by:
- Planner / pack author: prepares and submits packs
- Responsible Manager (RM): reviews, approves or rejects
- Site / field user: completes on mobile (online/offline)
- Admin: manages users, permissions, and data
If you cannot see a pack type or action, it is usually a permissions issue. See: Troubleshooting → Permissions & role issues.
Step 2 — Start with the right pack
- For plant-related planning and controls: POS
- For work with one or more lines open to traffic: ALO
- Where applicable, projects may use both, and ALO may reference or be linked to POS.
Step 3 — Complete fields and attach evidence
Good submissions are:
- Complete (all required fields)
- Clear (no ambiguous text)
- Supported by attachments where relevant (diagrams, photos, supporting documents)
Step 4 — Submit for review
Submission records that information has been completed and formally shared for review via the platform.
See: POS → Submit a POS pack and Workflow → Lifecycle.
Step 5 — Track outcomes and respond
After submission, the pack moves through the configured workflow (review, approval, rejection/return, completion). DocuRail records status and timestamps to support traceability.
See: Workflow → Status meanings.
